Too early? NEVER!

Everyone please give it up to Ms. Kofi Jones for getting us kicked off this year with her Gravity review (see below).
Here are just a few from the early buzz list.

Nebraska (2013): Bruce Dern and Will Forte for heaven’s sake, Will Forte! Directed by Alexander Payne (The Descendants) be prepared for his typical quirky style of showing you America’s family dysfunction. Just remember, you can’t spell dysfunction without v-o-d-k-a.
US Release Date: November 15

Yes, THAT Will Forte.

I am running to get my Oscar, BACK OFF Oprah!

12 Years a Slave (2013): Directed by Steve McQueen, this movie has absolutely everyone in it that wasn’t in Lincoln. There are rumors that studios are holding back release dates until 2014 because this movie is just going to crush it. We are hoping this knocks the Hallmark Channel-esque The Butler completely out of consideration.

US Release Date: October 31

Inside Llewyn Davis (2013): The Coen Brothers & JT.  It’s enough to make me forgive them for casting Carey Mulligan (Why don’t I like her? Is it just me?)

US Release Date: December 20

August: Osage County (2013): Director John Wells give us, gird your loins ladies…Ewan McGregor, Dermot Mulroney, Sam Shepard, Chris Cooper and of course Benedict Cumberbatch…because quite frankly we’re not making any more movies without Mr. Cumberbatch, to which Ashley and I say thank you, thank you VERY much Mr. Hollywood Producer.
US Release Date: December 25 (limited)

OK who’s got some more? What do you hear? What do you know?

  1. While watching 27 minutes of previews prior to Gravity, I got to enjoy the August:Osage County preview. First... I will suggest that they gave this film said name because they wanted to sound all artsy and independent. Second... the cast does look amazeballs; we've even got Streep, Breslin, Juliette Lewis and Julia Roberts (I'll try to overlook the latter). Third.. please tell me that this isn't going to be as formulaic as it looks - "hey, look at us, we're a dysfunctional family, brought together because of an X in the family, but despite all our quirks and battles, we really DO love each other."
