Random Oscar notes...

Richard Burton never won an Academy Award. He did however, win many awards for overbearing, drunken poncy-ness.

Driving Miss Daisy beat out Do the Right Thing teaching America it's okay to talk about race as long as there is nice elderly Jewish woman to make it seem less threatening.

Chicago beat out The Pianist. This is not the most obscene miscarriage of justice you will see in this post.

The English Patient beat Fargo. THIS is the most obscene miscarriage of justice you will see.

Gone With The Wind remains the longest film to win an Oscar at 3 hours and 56 minutes.
This may be hard to believe because The English Patient FEELS so much longer...like days longer.

Even this face cannot save The English Patient.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SAG and Golden Globe Noms are out!

Here are a few stream of consciousness observations by me in no particular order:

• I was REALLY hoping to not have to see Captain Phillips... but that dream is over.
• I hate Tom Hanks
• RUSH GOT NOMINATED FOR BEST PICTURE?  WHAT??????? Here's to hoping the Academy doesn't make the same mistake.
• I hate Tom Hanks
• Inside Llewyn Davis *looks* like it insists upon itself, but I am in for the Cohen Bros and Justin.
• I hate Tom Hanks
• Robert Redford is older than dirt at this point, I hope this isn't the year they give him the gratuitous Globes/Oscars because he might die soon.
• I hate Tom Hanks.
• Wolf of Wall Street?? I have never heard of this movie and just found out that Leo is in it.
• I HATE TOM HANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
